Prayer for December 9, 2007
By Ian Lawton

Namaste- The God in me greets the God in you. Radiant beauty. God greeting God. Heartbeat meeting heartbeat. The rhythm of life.

The God in you greets the divine lump of stardust sitting next to you. Radiant beauty. God greeting God. Heartbeat meeting heartbeat. The rhythm of life.

The God in all living beings greets the radiance of nature; sterling stars suspended in the crystal air of a winter sky; deep silence echoing in falling, morning snow; the moon’s reflection bouncing off frozen puddles.

The beat of the drum fills your spirit and you rest in the grace of the world; unseen stars dance in rhythmic circles around you and they are beautiful in their hidden silence. The beauty of nature radiates. God greeting God. Heartbeat meeting heartbeat. The rhythm of life.

Beating/ pulsing/ being/ moving/ loving/ creating- all things beat in harmony- mitakuye oyasin

Look within- may you see vast inner spaciousness, a blue black space speckled with beacons of light-  primordial fireballs, holding all answers, all inspiration, all guidance. Light/ vast/ spacious/ luminous/ inspiration/ guidance/ source/ eternal rhythm

Celestial lights- telling stories of Gods and goddesses, drawing maps of the universe, astrology, astronomy, math and art; hidden wisdom shooting down upon you. Rhythm speaking of the wonders of the universe and your place within it.

You are complete people, both poets and scientists; left and right brain miracles- May you question and search, crack codes and perceive puzzles, may you examine ancient belief systems, and discard irrelevant superstition and blind faith, and yet may you also give yourself to the bliss of a nameless mystery that transcends logic.

May you use words, express meaning, spin ideas, be intellectually brilliant, and yet also stand before nature, wide eyed in wordless wonder.

May you explain complexities of the universe’s workings, and yet also let your senses dance in the mystery of all that is and is yet to be.

May you marvel at reality as you know it, and also search mystery as you imagine it.
May you wonder at logic as you explain it, and also surrender to intuition as you live it.

May you analyse who and why you love, and yet also become lost in an ocean of passion.

Like the Magi of ancient legends, may you seek the stable of human existence, that in the silence you might look level eyed into the face of God and see your own reflection.

Like the Magi escaping Herod, when despair grows in you and you feel lost and forsaken, may you come into the inner presence of still water,  may you feel above you the day-blind stars waiting with their light. For a time may you rest in the grace of the world, and be free.

You are the Divine Union ; poet and scientist, logic and passion,  left and right brain in toe tapping harmony. Your mind is in tune with the mind of God and your heart resonates with the earth’s heart beat.

Deep peace of the running wave to you.
Deep peace of the flowing air to you.
Deep peace of the quiet earth to you.
Deep peace of the shining stars to you.
Deep peace, infinite peace to you.

Deep peace of the brightest Morning Star, rising at dawn’s horizon, greeting the day, shining grace on your life. Radiant beauty. God greeting God. Heartbeat meeting heartbeat. The rhythm of life. Amen
