Prayer for October 28, 2007
By Bob Kleinheksel

We pause to raise what is spoken and unspoken in these morning hours. As grey and cool sweep the turning landscape and as this good earth tilts further from warmth’s source, we, too, move through our own lives and seasons and stories, wild and wonderful, steady and spontaneous, demanding and perhaps even dull. Humans, humus -of and from the earth, returning to the earth as well...we rise with emerging consciousness and intention, on our way, striving toward that which affirms our authentic humanness. In these moments of silence and remembrance, may we consider again what draws us to our great humanity and thus greater godliness. (silence)

As a race and people on the way, may we be bold enough to risk the fruit of independence, awareness, nakedness, life and death...for these things have always been.

The fabric of this family is filled with hopes and fears, depressions and delights. May we continue to be open to the hurts, the laughter, the challenges and comforts, the cancers, the cat scans, the hopes and relief so that we both can contribute and develop the fruits of the spirit: kindness, compassion, grace, love...as well as taste the joy of learning, laughing and including—and in the end realize all will be well and that we would have both experienced and helped bring about a world filled with greater gentleness, emerging consciousness and vibrant and liberated humanity - in honor of the ones we now speak of and remember, in honor of the spirit and presence of life and all sages and prophets, guides and gurus who guide us still. Amen.
