C3/CCC Prayer Transcript for May 4, 2008 God of all our understandings…within, between and beyond – source of comfort and quandary, well of life, ground of being, freedom, love and deepening engagement with all of life. We pause in this springing season, full of life and resurrection, possibility. Growth around beckons our emergence into new beings every day, every hour. Cells grow, thoughts are born, skin is shucked off….infinite activity within and around now and forever. Not that long ago the trees around looked like upside down roots dangling in the wind. Now green clouds emerge again making the longing limbs fill with life -enhancing the changing scapes around us. The ebb and flow, giving and receiving, giving, taking….a constant dance around us, within us. Spring breezes, returning birds, the grandeur of simple flowers luring bees and insects back into their life-giving activity. Ordinary miracles again and again. What cathedral made by human hands could contain the majesty and allure of this spring season – and nature all around? What Bach or Mozart could surpass the hush of sounds as swans fly closely over the water, as cardinals cry in the morning…or even as blue jays in their raucousness annoy the birds around…and perhaps humans nearby as well? The warmth caresses us, draws us out from caves and hibernation and lifeless mud toward endless light….and the emergence is a sacrament to us all. As we celebrate giving and receiving, may we know that all is one – that the two are intimately related and necessary. In giving we receive; in receiving we also add life and grace in all our exchanges. Perhaps one of our greatest human challenges is to receive the beauty, grace, spirit and life-giving energy from the universe from whence we came. May we also know that it is in giving, in releasing, in detaching, in serving, sharing and sacrificing – that we would truly live and grow and dwell in lasting satisfaction and peace. So let us awaken as buried seeds - from hard coffins. The land softens, spring dances on our graves and we awaken again to our new destinies whose time has come. Indeed, may we affirm that we have been known from the very beginning, that our courses have been set from the first explosions and expansions and that we now continue on trajectories of care, grace, becoming and new life. We live and grow in order to present our better selves to this world and to those around who need care, love, healing, encouragement, visitations, support – those being birthed, baptized, received, those dying, those in great transition. May our energies, actions, words, gestures, thoughts be directed to that which gives life; to that which gentles the earth; to that which allows us to give and receive in hopes of realizing the most profound things we can experience and share as we continue the journey together. We pause and pray in honor of all things new and all things that will forever be. Let it be. Amen.
