C3/CCC Prayer Transcript for April 6, 2008
By Cindy Anderson
As we quiet ourselves, let us ponder our planet,
This glorious orb we call Earth;
Astounding in its abundance,
Breathtaking in its beauty,
Delightful in its diversity,
And predictable in its patterns.
Just this past week, we shivered in the bitter wind and wondered if spring would ever come.
This morning, we feel the warmth, smell the growth, and celebrate the promise of “sun and 60s.”
As the days lengthen, all of creation responds
Hibernations end
Birds burst into song
And tiny green shoots peek through the decaying leaves,
Reminding us, the big brained creatures,
Of renewal and rebirth.
Reminding us of resurrection.
Reminding us also of our responsibility,
A responsibility to all the creatures that have come before us
A responsibility to all the creatures yet to come.
So let this be our prayer
That we, as part of creation,
Save this planet from our self-centered humanity.
That our God Within gives us courage to speak out
raise our voices,
tell our children and our president
tell our neighbors and our legislators
that we will not tolerate further destruction of our world.
And let this be our prayer
That we, as part of creation,
Protect all living things on this planet,
That the God Between enhances our time,
With flora and fauna
With friend and foe
Building relationships of appreciation and understanding
Of listening and love.
And let this be our prayer
That we, as part of creation,
As individuals and a community,
Fully understand
The responsibilities of our place in this
Miraculous evolutionary process,
This mystery of creation.
Understanding is our only hope for
The salvation of the earth and all its glory.
Let it be so...
