Sunday, May 4
Awakening — 9:00 a.m.
Join us for a 40-minute contemplative gathering in the chapel. This gathering is perfect for anyone seeking spiritual practice.
Pluralism Sunday Gathering — 10:00 a.m.
Bishop John Shelby Spong will be leading our gathering this morning. You will not want to miss the incredible opportunity of hearing the message this great pioneer has to offer us.
Music will be provided by Brian Vander Ark, former lead singer of the pop-sensation, The
Verve Pipe. Brian will be performing songs from his newly released 2008, self-titled album which is now available.
On Sunday mornings all are welcome to one of our two distinct community gatherings:
8:30 a.m. Gathering (Currently on Winter Break)
Our early gathering is a simple, 40-minute service featuring a progressive sermon, short liturgy, and celebration of the eucharist. This service has a more traditional feel.
10:00 a.m. Gathering
Our main community gathering is the integration of the diversity and evolution of our individual spiritual paths. Through carefully crafted liturgies; the pairing of biblical and contemporary readings; a variety of musical styles; expression of the arts through poetry, dance, and visual imagery; and a uniquely distinctive progressive message; we seek to create an open space for all to explore being human, being love.
This service is well suited for families as it features a short children’s message, nursery care, children’s program and youth program. This service runs for one hour and is followed by our sermon talk-back session. The 10:00 a.m. gathering is not only experienced by those in attendance in Spring Lake, but is also viewed on DVD by satellite groups and individuals around the world seeking an alternative to church as usual.
