What is Progressive Christianity?

We are progressive in the sense that we are open to the evolution of life, thought and consciousness. We are Christian in the sense that we are inspired by the spirit of Jesus' life and ministry. Progressive Christianity is an evolving movement that builds on the critical movements of the past century, and finds metaphoric meaning in sacred text and religious imagery.

What is integral Christianity?

Integral is a theory mapped by Ken Wilber that seeks to incoroprate as many perspectives as possible, and traces the development of thought and culture through discernable stages. Integral Christianity seeks to include all that has gone before (eg traditional, magic, rational, and pluralistic Christianity), while transcending any exclusive aspects of these stages.

What does it mean to be a part of Christ Community Church's global community?

People participate in C3/CCC in many different ways. Some attend our local programs. Others start satellite groups in various locations. Still others access our resources via the internet and DVDs. We affirm all these forms of participation, and see ourselves as partners with people around the world who seek to celebrate the spirit of Jesus minsitry in ways that honor the evolving human journey.

What beliefs does Christ Community Church hold?

C3/ CCC is more interested in the quality of beliefs than any particular orthodoxy. We ask questions of ourselves such as, "Are our beliefs as inclusive, compassionate, and just as they can be?" We hold that it's more important to treat people right than to be right. We explore the interdependence of all people and perspectives. We marvel in the continuity of life, rather than holding to a particular view of the afterlife.

What rituals does Christ Community Church partake in?

We celebrate baptism and eucharist regularly. Our celebrations are an attempt to honor the tradition of these rituals within our contemporary context.

How does Christ Community Church approach the Bible?

Every Sunday we read from the Bible, and couple the Bible reading with a contemporary reading. We do this to set the spirit of the Christian tradition in a contemporary context. The Bible describes and stretches the spirit of its age, and inspires us to do the same in our age.

Is Christ Community Church an interfaith community?

Most definitely. Our community includes people who describe themselves as Christian, Buddhist, spiritual atheist or no particular label. Many also have a deep passion for seeking the Spirit that is common to all faiths.

What does it mean to be a member of Christ Community Church?

All people are invited into the full life of this community regardless of history, status or membership distinction. People visiting, exploring this ministry or attending need not conform to any creed or meet before any governing body in order to share in this ministry.

While we are an independently governed community and place no expectations on people to join as members, many people choose to do so. Recognizing membership is typically done in the context of a Sunday gathering as a non-threatening, personal, affirmative welcoming.

All forms of participation are honored, both locally and globally. People everywhere are invited to learn from, grow with, enjoy and contribute whether or not they formally intend to join as members.

for more information on membership, please email Bob.
