“Evolution & Spirit – Genesis e-course”
(Daily Version)

This class is currently in session. You may order the download version here.

Description:

The course is based on the book of Genesis, addressing significant questions of religious texts, science, myth, and evolution. It offers resources for modern people to read the text in relevant ways without falling back on magical notions of creationism.

Through this course we explore how this ancient creation myth can inspire more authentic humanity and a more just vision for the planet.

"Would you like to meet a God presence greater than the one we most frequently meet in church? This e-Course on science, religion, and the Book of Genesis will open doors that you have never imagined."
- John Shelby Spong, Author, "Jesus for the Non Religious"

Here are two excerpts from the course:

"Your journey through Genesis will be full of imploding and exploding consciousness; former beliefs in literal and magical creation imploding, and evolving wonder in the creative process exploding with life and imagination within and around you. Grief and new possibility are all wrapped up in the one alchemical process, shattering any easy division of good and evil, positive and negative, beginning and ending. How marvelous!"

"Wonder and imagination are the human tools that create order and enable an end to chaos; wonder and imagination shape people and gods in intelligible form. But always something more teases the senses. Words are never quite adequate to assess the connections. So poetry, mythology, art, religion, loving and holding and sharing - each Adam looking into the eyes of another Eve - awaken the senses to something yet to be discovered. This is the magic of life that the storied theology of Genesis seeks to decode."

This course was written by Ian Lawton, Bill Lawton, and Howard VanTill.
