Sermon Talk-Back

Have you ever had something to add to a sermon which would be of interest and use to others, but had no opportunity to share your views? Here's a chance to move beyond a talking-head model of preaching to something far more interactive, something which builds on our collective wisdom. Each week there will be an opportunity to gather with the preacher of the day and explore in greater depth the ideas raised in the sermon. This is a chance to clarify ideas, raise questions, and expand the horizons of the preachers. Grab your coffee and come back to the sanctuary to enjoy this great time of sharing in community.

The Institute of Progressive Theology

We are happy to offer premiere courses for those seeking a progressive perspective to religious education. Classes are generally held on Wednesday evenings, and are taught by staff and friends of Christ Community Church. During our innaugural course, "God 101," participants explored a history of theology, their own concept of God, and how religious beliefs impact their daily lives. New courses are regularly being developed and offered.

Women's Wisdom

Toni Van Dyken, CSD and Interfaith Minister, has created a specialized format for deepening our individual spiritual journeys. This gathering is not a “book discussion as usual,” but relies on Sacred Circle format developed from the work of Parker Palmer, Patricia Lynn Reilly, and Marchiene Rienstra, which calls forth each participant’s Inner Teacher. This group is open to all women and meets Monday evenings from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. Summer sessions are more social when gathering, and meet only five times during the summer.

Men's Group

Tuesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. a group of men come together to discuss issues relating to their lives, relationships, spirituality, and our world today.

Big Mind Workshops

Big Mind is an interactive exercise that offers an insight into the heart of all spiritual traditions, including Christianity. Dennis Genpo Merzel Roshi, one of the preeminent Zen Masters in the western world, developed this unique and revolutionary exercise that combines Voice Dialogue and shifts in self-awareness. It’s a simple and fun process that is well-suited to our western, inquisitive minds. Anyone can do it. Big Mind is a unique opportunity to get to know different aspects of who we are, as well as offering a glimpse of the divine seed within. This is a great opportunity to enter a dialogue with ourself and others and deepen our divine awareness at the same time. Ian Lawton is a trained facilitator of Big Mind and periodically offers workshops.

Dine With Nine

"Dine With Nine," launching into its 8th year, is a very popular program here at C3/CCC. It is our aim to feature a program to help people connect and socialize regardless of their relationship status. This program brings widows, singles, couples, partners and divorcees together to share dinner and conversation at the home of the evening's host. Each person is asked to bring an element of the meal - an appetizer, salad, dessert, wine, or bread, while the host will provide the main entree. Consider being a host of this fun event, or sign up to attend.

For more information about any of these programs, email info@christ-community.net.
